Today Is a Good Day…

Today, July 1st, 2010 is a great day in Florida for movie makers and investors. The Florida Film Commission and the State of Florida Legislation has implicated a new tax credit program that will assist in bringing films back to Florida. Any investments into a Florida film get a twenty to thirty percent tax credit, with returns of $53.5 million in returns available for the first year, as well the same amount annually for the next 4 years. The return on investment starts as soon as the film goes into production. Blu Ink Entertainment based in Orlando, FL has partnered with Scatter Brothers Productions and Denearo Productions on a full length feature comedy called ‘Trip In America.’ This started as a Chris James concept, who is also one of the two producers on the movie; the other being Ben Daniele from Tampa, FL. The two originally met while working on the first season of the successful entertainment country music news show Honky Tonk TV.
James decided to bring in Chicago writer Mark Vickery to write the screen play. Entertainment attorney Frankie Hill originally introduced the pair to one aother back in 2007. While the first draft was being written, James called Los Angeles resident and music-video director Murray Mile to see if he would think about committing time to directing a feature film. They had previously worked together on a TV pilot in 2008 and James was ecstatic when Mile agreed.
James & Daniele will work closely with Doug Tschirhart (Associate Producer) and Crystal Louthan (Marketing Manager) on production, marketing and distribution, while co-ordinating the day-to-day workings of the whole team.
It’s worth mentioning that everyone above are also members of the Reel Mafia, an ‘invitation only’ privately owned group of people from all walks of life that are making waves within the entertainment business.
