Let us introduce you to the first ever girlband to win The X Factor UK. They made X Factor history today and they are called Little Mix!

Charlene Soraia is a folk artist doing very well in the UK Charts right now. Yes we said UK! This song “Wherever You Will Go” is currently in the Top.20 National BBC Radio 1 Chart. Her debut album is called MOONCHILD.

Born in Sydenham (an area and electoral ward in the London Borough of Lewisham, United Kingdom) to hardcore hippy parents, Charlene first picked up a guitar at the tender and impressionable age of 5. It belonged to her dad but she secretly plucked away at it until the strings broke. She didn’t own up. But by then she had fallen head over heels in love with the instrument and her dad knew it. So he bought her a guitar of her own and Charlene spent hours teaching herself to play and honing her innate talent. And she was good. So good in fact that she performed in public for the first time aged just 8 years old. She hasn’t looked back since. By the age of 10 her life ambition, if the music career failed, was to become a luthier (how many 10 year olds even know what that is?) and after a few years practice she rebuilt a 1973 Japanese 335 guitar when she was 17.

It was around age 9 that Charlene first fell in love with David Bowie. By 10 she discovered the experimental sounds of The Beatles and got deep into ‘60’s psychedelia and intricate jazz guitarists before exposure to artists like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and King Crimson led to her encyclopedic knowledge and deep love of prog rock. I kid you not. This girl is as far from the run of the mill singer songwriter as you can get.

Charlene’s love of the guitar and the above musical genres has developed her distinctive fret flexing style that is incredible to listen to and mesmerizing to watch. Her unique talent and hippified individuality also won her a coveted place at the Brit School, where her peers were Adele, ROX and Kate Nash. Even at such a young age she has captivated sufficiently to be invited to tour with the likes of Stephen Fretwell, Howard Elliot Payne, Kami Thompson and Jon Allen.

Keep an eye on this girl – as we think you’ll be hearing her name in 2012.

Adele has undergone laser microsurgery to repair damaged vocal cords that have caused repeated hemorrhaging, leading to the cancellation of many tour dates for the year’s biggest pop act.

Dr. Steven M. Zeitels, director of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Voice Center, “expects Adele to make a full recovery from her laser microsurgery,” the hospital said in a statement. Zeitels has previously treated other singers with similar ailments, including Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.

Adele has been suffering recurring rupturing of blood vessels in her vocal cords. Last month she canceled several weeks of upcoming touring in the U.S. due to the issue.

Coldplay is easily cruising to its third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with Mylo Xyloto. Industry sources had it down to sell at least 440,000 to 450,000 copies by week’s end on Oct. 30, although that prognostication has grown some.

“Mylo” should start with a minimum of 450,000 and might be bigger, depending on how the weekend pans out. With a lot of people out shopping this weekend for the Halloween, anything is possible. Sales starting north of 440,000 would secure Coldplay the third-biggest sales week of the year, behind Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” debut (1.1 million) and Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter IV” start (964,000).

Having premiered this month for a Montreal audience that included the late star’s mother and his three children, the $60 million Immortal World Tour makes its U.S. debut Saturday at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena. The tour, which includes a December residency in Las Vegas, will wrap up its stateside run in July before heading overseas.

KISS bassist Gene Simmons, 61, and his decades-long girlfriend Shannon Tweed, 54, have overcome their recent differences and decided to finally tie the knot on Oct. 1 in Beverly Hills.

The early evening nuptials – as shown on the two-part invite – will take place at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel. The invite requests “classy cocktail attire” even though “we know some Rockstar attire will be worn.”

Tony Bennett will return to the MTV Video Music Awards stage this Sunday night in Los Angeles for the first time since 1993 to pay tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, an MTV spokesperson tells Rolling Stone.

The two teamed up to record “Body and Soul” for his Duets II album, out September 20th. Bennett will introduce video footage from the pair’s recording session this past March in London, as well as additional musical performances to be announced – which means it’s possible that Adele and Gaga, who both paid respects to Winehouse following her passing and are scheduled to perform at the VMAs, will be involved.

Bennett says the song is a fitting homage to her musical gifts. “It was a thrill to record with Amy Winehouse and when you listen to the recording of ‘Body and Soul,’ it is a testament to her artistic genius and her brilliance as one of the most honest musicians I have ever known,” Bennett said in a recent statement.
