Tour news: Jay-Z and Eminem, whose rooftop mini-concert airs on the Late Show With David Letterman tonight, have added dates to their Home And Home tour. Tickets have just gone on sale for the two new shows, added to the two previous shows. They are now playing Sept. 2 and 3 at Comerica Park in Detroit and Sept. 13 and 14 at Yankee Stadium in New York

Even as CD sales and legal music downloads dropped last year, radio use climbed to 93% among country fans (from 79% the year before). Most listeners tune in for an impressive 9.9 hours a week, and crossover artists such as Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Darius Rucker are luring a growing number of African-American and tween listeners to the airwaves. This marks the annual pilgrimage of 100,000 sun-seeking music fans to the Southern California desert for the three-day Coachella Music and Arts Festival. Jay-Z’s playing, Thom Yorke, MGMT, DEVO, plus Gorillaz, but there are also giant art and architectural installations created by a who’s who of Southern California architects. This year, Crimson Collective, an L.A.-based group of artists, architects, and designers constructed Ascension, a 45-foot tall crane with a 150-foot wingspan.

Live Nation, the world’s largest concert promoter, has got a new way of getting rid of paper tickets. The firm has been trialling smart-chip wristbands in an attempt to cut down on ticket fraud, and it’s expected that the promoter will roll out the scheme at British festivals this summer. I like this idea a lot. USA needs to get with the program.
