Adele has undergone laser microsurgery to repair damaged vocal cords that have caused repeated hemorrhaging, leading to the cancellation of many tour dates for the year’s biggest pop act.

Dr. Steven M. Zeitels, director of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Voice Center, “expects Adele to make a full recovery from her laser microsurgery,” the hospital said in a statement. Zeitels has previously treated other singers with similar ailments, including Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.

Adele has been suffering recurring rupturing of blood vessels in her vocal cords. Last month she canceled several weeks of upcoming touring in the U.S. due to the issue.

Coldplay is easily cruising to its third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with Mylo Xyloto. Industry sources had it down to sell at least 440,000 to 450,000 copies by week’s end on Oct. 30, although that prognostication has grown some.

“Mylo” should start with a minimum of 450,000 and might be bigger, depending on how the weekend pans out. With a lot of people out shopping this weekend for the Halloween, anything is possible. Sales starting north of 440,000 would secure Coldplay the third-biggest sales week of the year, behind Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” debut (1.1 million) and Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter IV” start (964,000).

There’s a moment in Cirque du Soleil’s Immortal show when the stage empties, the lights go down, and Michael Jackson’s I’ll Be There vocal gets the room to itself.

Having premiered this month for a Montreal audience that included the late star’s mother and his three children, the $60 million Immortal World Tour makes its U.S. debut Saturday at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena. The tour, which includes a December residency in Las Vegas, will wrap up its stateside run in July before heading overseas.

KISS bassist Gene Simmons, 61, and his decades-long girlfriend Shannon Tweed, 54, have overcome their recent differences and decided to finally tie the knot on Oct. 1 in Beverly Hills.

The early evening nuptials – as shown on the two-part invite – will take place at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel. The invite requests “classy cocktail attire” even though “we know some Rockstar attire will be worn.”

Tony Bennett will return to the MTV Video Music Awards stage this Sunday night in Los Angeles for the first time since 1993 to pay tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, an MTV spokesperson tells Rolling Stone.

The two teamed up to record “Body and Soul” for his Duets II album, out September 20th. Bennett will introduce video footage from the pair’s recording session this past March in London, as well as additional musical performances to be announced – which means it’s possible that Adele and Gaga, who both paid respects to Winehouse following her passing and are scheduled to perform at the VMAs, will be involved.

Bennett says the song is a fitting homage to her musical gifts. “It was a thrill to record with Amy Winehouse and when you listen to the recording of ‘Body and Soul,’ it is a testament to her artistic genius and her brilliance as one of the most honest musicians I have ever known,” Bennett said in a recent statement.

The notoriously-argumenatative bandmates are taking their issues to London’s High Court

One of music’s most famous family feuds is headed for the courts. Oasis singer Liam Gallaghersaid Friday he is suing his estranged brother and former bandmate, Noel, for saying his hangover forced the rumbustious Brit rockers to cancel a concert.

Bad blood between the brothers has made headlines ever since Oasis burst to fame in 1994 with debut album Definitely Maybe. When Noel left the band in 2009 he said it was because he couldn’t work “a day longer” with his brother.

Liam, who now plays in the rock act Beady Eye (which is in fact everyone from Oasis apart from songwriter Noel) is disputing comments made by his brother last month alleging that Liam pulled out of the 2009 V Festival due to a hangover. Liam said in a statement he wants an apology and for Oasis fans “to know the truth” about what happened — laryngitis prevented him from performing the gig.

He also took issue with his brother’s claim that “the demise of Oasis followed a massive row in which he claimed I demanded to advertise my clothing range Pretty Green in the Oasis tour program.”

“The truth is there was no such discussion or row between us. There are many reasons why Oasis split. But it had nothing to do with my clothing range.”

“This is not about money,” he added. “All I want is a full apology from Noel.”

Liam Gallagher’s spokesman confirmed the singer had issued a writ at the High Court in London against his brother. Representatives of Noel Gallagher declined to comment.

We have to say that Liam is taking this way too far this time round.

Amy Winehouse’s final recording, a duet with Tony Bennett, will be released as a charity single for a foundation set up in her name, her family said Thursday.

Body and Soul will go on sale in September, with proceeds going to the newly established Amy Winehouse Foundation. Very cool!

The two singers recorded the pop standard in March at London’s Abbey Road Studios for Bennett’s forthcoming Duets II album.

Winehouse, who had struggled for years with drug and alcohol addiction, was found dead at her London home on July 23, aged 27.

Her father, Mitch Winehouse, said releasing the song for charity was “the most fitting tribute of all” to his daughter. Her voice sounds “as amazing and beautiful as ever” on the recording, he said.

Mitch Winehouse said the foundation would fund a range of charities for young people. He said “We intend to raise funds and distribute them to individual projects who apply for help.”
