News Corp.’s iPad-only newspaper, The Daily, has reportedly been delayed. The Daily is digital, iPad-only newspaper from Rupert Murdoch, which downloads a new edition every morning, like a regular newspaper. Recent rumours had said that ‘The Daily’ would be revealed on January 19th at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art with both Murdoch and Steve Jobs in attendance, however, new sources state that both Apple and News Corp. have made the decision to delay the launch by “weeks, not months”.

The problem is said to lie within Apple’s new subscription service, which uses iTunes to bill subscribers on a weekly or monthly basis, and sync the new edition everyday. A PR representative from News Corp. has confirmed the delay, however Apple has refused to comment.

GORILLAZ, Damon Albarn has recorded the band’s new album on an iPad.

The singer, 42, hopes the material will become the first collection to be entirely created on the Apple gadget. The BLUR singer laid down tracks during breaks on the road with the chart-topping band. He said: “I hope I’ll be making the first record on an iPad. I fell in love with my iPad as soon as I got it, so I’ve made a completely different kind of record.”

Damon is the latest artist to use computer giant Apple’s devices. Last month New York band ATOMIC TOM shot to prominence after they were filmed performing their single Take Me Out on a Manhattan subway train using only their iPhones for instruments.

Yesterday saw the launch of “smart sizing” for online suit-making, and today’s good news for would-be snappy dressers is that you can order a custom dress shirt & not a boring off-the-peg number! via an iPad app.

If you can afford to drop a minimum of $500 + TAX for an iPad, you’ll probably be cool enough to drop between $45 and $100 on a unique dress shirt to add that individual touch to your office outfit. Us Chill Reporters don’t wear suits, but if we did we’d probably try this App out.

The iPad is turning into one pretty fashion-friendly fashionable gizmo. If you don’t have an iPad you can see the application in action here or customize a shirt yourself from the company’s website blank-label.com.

Virgin, Sir Richard Branson’s company, is to go into e-publishing, with an iPad-only publication / magazine called Maverick. And, if the AdAge report is anything to go by, it sounds like it’s going to be a direct competitor to FastCompany.com.

People seem to forget that Mr. Branson started in the magazine publishing business, back in his college days. I think this is a very good move. Its “family ambassador” is to be Branson’s pulchritudinous daughter Holly (pictured here with Dad and brother) who left medical school to join the family firm, and its editor is a former editor of FHM in the U.K. Anthony Noguera. His AI publishing unit, Seven Squared is a London based customer engagement agency.

If you can’t wait around until October to get Maverick onto your iPad and you want some digital magazine action now then why not check out Zinio Magazine News-stand & Reader, which gives you access to more than 2500 full-colour magazines.

Back in February, Apple estimated 10 million units leaving its headquarters before the end of 2010 an with another nine countries getting access to the iPad next month, that’s a safe bet.

Last week’s mess, with both Apple and AT&T’s Web sites crashing under the demand for the iPhone4, Katy Huberty, an analyst with Morgan Stanley, reckons that, by the end of 2011, there should be 100 million iPhone subscribers worldwide which is an increase of 70 million from the end of 2009. Crazy!

Apple said that iPad sales have topped 2 million since its launch almost two months ago. The Cupertino, California, company began selling the iPad last Friday in Asia and Europe. The iPad was released in the United States on April 3. This past weekend, Apple began selling iPads in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

If you just take the $499 price for the cheapest model and times that by 2 million, that’s $998,000,000.00 in sales. Is that all!?

The iPad is now in the U.K. And alongside all the apps that you’d expect to see, like the Financial Times, there was also Stephen Fry‘s FryPaper. It was the 2nd most popular free download on iTunes’ app store within a couple of hours. Andrew Sampson is Stephen’s business partner in SamFry Ltd. ”I come up with the stage and Stephen will do the material,” says Sampson of his relationship with Fry. “I provide the infrastructure and Steven will build the ideas.”

The partnership extends far beyond Fry’s Web site. The two have created a cool little agency called Untied Artists, a nod to the original United Artists, where four actors, including Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford, set up a studio to control their own work. “Untied has the same principle as United Pictures,” says Sampson. “Artists own the content and distribute the content. They can aggregate content, share in revenue and audiences and help grow another person’s Web site.”

Bluebox is turning the iPad into possible in-flight entertainment box. iPads are small, portable, give the user control over when and what they do for entertainment, and since they can be wirelessly-served data through specialized apps, it’s easy for the operator to serve out films, TV shows, and what-not. Their battery life is good for all but the longest flights, and re-charging them is easy. Best of all, if you hand out iPads to customers, you don’t need to build in-flight amusement gear into your seat-backs–which cuts all the expense, complication, tricky hardware and software maintenance and sheer weight (think of fuel-savings) associated with dedicated systems.
