LEONARDO DiCAPRIO is set to play FBI boss J EDGAR HOOVER in a new biopic. He’s in talks with director CLINT EASTWOOD to star as the founder and most influential figure in the history of the Bureau. He is yet to sign on the dotted line, but Oscar winning actor told Entertainment Weekly “It sounds interesting to say the least. There’s no contract, no anything, but I’m a huge fan of Clint’s.”

Despite a decidedly mixed critical reaction on the other side of the Atlantic, Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island stormed straight to the top of the box office this weekend. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a US marshal investigating the disappearance of a criminally insane patient, the flick pocketed a tidy $40m during its opening weekend. It’s a record breaker for Scorsese and DiCaprio, giving them both their biggest opening ever.

Two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, are summoned to a remote and barren island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island’s fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.
