Orcières-Merlette (dpa) – Fellow favorite Primoz Roglic has won the first mountain finish of the 107th Tour de France. After 160.5 kilometers from Sisteron to Orcières-Merlette, the Slovenian won ahead of his fellow countryman Tadej Pogacar.
The hopeful German Emanuel Buchmann reached the finish on the 1,825 meter high ski station a few seconds behind Roglic. Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe successfully defended the lead in the general classification. That means that the superstar will wear the yellow jersey for the 17th time in his career on Wednesday.
The sprinters are in demand again in the fifth stage. More than 183 kilometers from Gap to Privas, there are only two mountains of the fourth category.
