A serious accident took place in Hesse: a 13-year-old was behind the wheel and was seriously injured. His young co-drivers also had to go to hospital.
A 13-year-old at the wheel of a car caused a serious road accident with five injured children in North Hesse. A spokesman for the police in Kassel said on Thursday that the boy was on the road with the car full of children without the knowledge of the parents. He went off the road and crashed into a tree.
The boy had to be freed from the car wreck by the fire brigade. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other four seriously injured inmates – three girls aged 12, 14 and 15 and one 14-year-old – are not at risk to their lives.
The 14-year-old passenger left the car in shock
According to researchers, the children traveled between Söhrewald-Eiterhagen and Hessisch Lichtenau-Quentel in the Kassel district. There the car hit the edge of the road, crashed into a demarcation post, onto an embankment and crashed into the stump of a tree. This gave the car a serious dent on the driver’s side. Eventually the car collided with a tree.
The 14-year-old co-driver left the vehicle in shock, but was later found by emergency services. The police estimate the material damage at 8,000 euros. The police are now investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
