In Schmallenberg in the Sauerland, a young sawmill employee was killed in an accident. She got caught in a large circular saw and died at the scene of the accident.
An employee was killed in a work accident in a sawmill. The 23-year-old operated a large circular saw at the Schmallenberg plant in North Rhine-Westphalia on Saturday morning, a police spokesman said.
She got stuck between machine parts and got stuck. The young woman died at the scene of the accident. “It’s a so-called circular saw for cutting and resawing,” he said. The modern machine pulls in logs on a conveyor belt and processes them further. “Processing is done autonomously, one person controls the machine via a control panel.”
Initial findings indicate that the young woman was responsible for the control panel when she became trapped between hydraulic parts of the saw and got stuck. How it got into the machine was unclear at first. Criminal police and the district administration’s labor protection service have launched an investigation, it said.
