A two-storey restaurant collapsed in Jiangfen area of Shanxi province, China, killing at least 29 people. The country’s state news agency Xinhua reported that a rescue operation was declared after rescuing several injured people. However, the cause of the accident was not known.
Xinhua reported that a birthday party was going on Saturday, when the Xinjiang restaurant building collapsed. 56 people have been rescued alive from the debris. Many of them were injured. However, officials have claimed that none of them are in danger.
China’s state broadcaster CGTN said the rescue operation was called off Sunday morning. However, the reason for the building collapse is not yet known. The local government will get the incident investigated by the central government.
Earlier in March this year, 29 people were killed when a hotel collapsed in the Chinese city of Quanzhou; Another 42 people were injured.
