Düsseldorf (dpa) – With the fourth consecutive victory, Holstein Kiel has regained the lead in the 2nd Bundesliga and pushed big rival Hamburger SV into second place.
After HSV’s victory on Tuesday, the “Storks” followed suit on Wednesday, scoring 1-0 (0-0) against 1. FC Nürnberg, who had previously won twice. With 25 points, Kiel is in first place, two points ahead of the team from Hamburg. Fin Bartels scored the winning goal in the Holstein stadium in the 80th minute. Nuremberg, who previously won two away games in a row, missed the jump to the top third of the table.
The league’s top home team has been stalked to fifth place. After a bumpy start to the season with a 3-0 (1-0) win against VfL Osnabrück, the Bundesliga Fortuna Düsseldorf relegated their fifth win in their sixth home game and are only one point behind the relegation spot. The goals for the Rhinelander were scored by Shinta Appelkamp with his first second division team (11th) and goalscorer Rouwen Hennings with a double in the final phase (89th / 90th +3).
The second Bundesliga relegated SC Paderborn, who missed the jump to the top half of the table after three defeats in a row with a 2-2 (2-1) against Eintracht Braunschweig, didn’t really improve. The goals for East Westphalia were scored by Dennis Srbeny (8th / penalty kick) and Chris Führich (19th). The Lower Saxony came to their goal via Fabio Kaufmann (29th) and Nick Proschwitz (81st), but stayed away without a victory. After all, Eintracht improved to 15th place.
After a corona case at the Würzburger Kickers, the match against FC St. Pauli was canceled on Wednesday evening, as was the guest appearance at SV Darmstadt 98 next Saturday. Erzgebirge Aue and Karlsruher SC meet on Thursday (8.30pm).
