A stranger shot two men in the street in Dresden. The 53- and 55-year-old men were seriously injured, the oldest died shortly afterwards in a hospital, police and prosecutor in Dresden announced on Monday. The background was initially unclear.

Perpetrator on the run

The act took place on Sunday evening in the old town of Dresden. According to initial investigations, the two men were attacked by an unknown person. The culprit fled. The shots were fired in the Schlossstrasse, near the historic Green Vault and other tourist attractions.

The prosecutor and the police are investigating suspected murder. For the time being, the police have not provided any further information for tactical reasons, in particular about the sequence of events or the motive.
