Another suspect was arrested after the attack in front of the former seat of the satirical newspaper “Charlie Hebdo” in Paris. According to the judiciary, it is a former housemate of the main suspect, an 18-year-old Pakistani on Saturday. In contrast, an Algerian was released that night who had been arrested near the scene of the crime. In total, seven suspects are currently in custody.

In front of the former headquarters of the editorial office of “Charlie Hebdo”, an attacker attacked two journalists from an office with a cleaver on Friday and was seriously injured. The 18-year-old was arrested as a suspected perpetrator. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin spoke of an Islamist terrorist act. The terrorist network Al-Qaeda previously threatened an attack for the re-release of controversial Mohammed cartoons by “Charlie Hebdo”.

The French counter-terrorism prosecutor is investigating attempted murder in connection with a terrorist act and the creation of a terrorist organization.

In the attack on the satirical newspaper in January 2015, two Islamists murdered 12 people in cold blood, including some of the most famous cartoonists in France. The trial against potential lenders is currently underway in Paris.
