Arsenal coach Arteta thinks Aubameyang will stay in London

London (AP) – Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta is confident that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will stay with Londoners in the future.

“I think so,” said Arteta after the FA Cup victory over Chelsea. “I think he wants to stay, it’s just about negotiating the contract.” Former Dortmund Aubameyang had shot the Gunners in the final of the English football cup with his double set for a 2-1 (1-1) victory.

It was the FA Cup’s 14th victory for record cup winner Arsenal. Arteta hopes that this success and the associated qualification for the Europa League can lead the coveted striker to stay in London. “I think these are the moments that make him realize that we are on the right track and that he is a big part of that,” said the Spaniard. Arteta has been in office since December 2019, leading the Gunners in eighth place in their first season as a coach.

“Everyone in the club loves him,” said Arteta of his team captain at Wembley Stadium. Aubameyang’s contract with Arsenal runs until the summer of 2021, but is on the wish list of several top international clubs. “Hopefully he can stay with us,” said Arteta. If successful, the coach has big plans for 31-year-old Gabon. “We want to build a team around him.”
