A memorial ceremony has been the target of an attack in Saudi Arabia. Among the guests were European diplomats. Several people were injured.
Several people were injured in an explosives attack on Wednesday during a memorial ceremony in the presence of European diplomats in Saudi Arabia. Representatives from various consulates, including from France, attended the commemoration at a non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah to commemorate the end of World War I, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in Paris.
France strongly condemns this “vicious attack”. According to the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin, German diplomats were not present at the memorial ceremony.
In Jeddah in western Saudi Arabia, an attack on a guard outside the French consulate did not take place until the end of October. The guard was injured and the local assailant was arrested. The embassy then called on all French in Saudi Arabia to “increase vigilance”.
