Aue (dpa) – Club chairman Helge Leonhardt of second division FC Erzgebirge Aue is pleased with the decision to distribute television funds in football from the 2021/2022 season.
“Here we acted competently and foresight and selfish interests could be largely rejected. Therefore, I am also aware that this arrangement is not welcomed with enthusiasm everywhere,” Leonhardt was quoted as saying on the association’s website.
The German football league decided on December 7 to distribute the TV money more evenly among the 36 clubs in the Bundesliga and the 2nd division. The basis for the distribution from the marketing of national media rights in the seasons 2021/22 to 2024/25 is a new four-pillar model.
“At the most difficult time for all of us, a decision has been made that points the way for all of the current and future effects of the corona pandemic and may eventually become essential for survival,” explains Leonhardt.
