Barcelona (AP) – Speculation about an early contract extension with FC Barcelona’s new football wonder Ansu Fati is in full swing.
Media reports say the Catalans should have an option to unilaterally extend the contract, which is valid until the end of June 2024. Currently, Fati would be tied to FC Barcelona until the end of June 2022.
However, according to “Catalunya Ràdio”, there are differences of opinion between the club and Fati’s adviser Jorge Mendes over the interpretation of the clause. Mendes should consider them invalid.
Fati will turn 18 on October 31, but has already played 34 competitive games for FC Barcelona. The teenager with roots in Guinea-Bissau is the beacon of hope for the club and has long sparked the interest of other clubs. With two goals on match day three of Primera División, he had made an important contribution to the 4-0 victory of coach Ronald Koeman’s team against Villarreal.
The fixed transfer fee is now said to be 400 million euros, previously it should have been 170 million euros. Fati has been wearing the FC Barcelona shirt since he was ten, having previously played in the Sevilla FC youth team. He was born in Bissau in West Africa.
