Belgian child prodigy: Anti-Doping Commission investigates Evenepoel

Brussels (dpa) – The CADF cycling anti-doping committee started an investigation against the young Belgian star Remco Evenepoel during his heavy fall during the Lombardy Tour.

The background is a video in which sports director Davide Bramati takes a white object from the jersey pocket of the seriously injured professional cyclist and puts it in his pocket. Evenepoel fell from a slope more than two weeks ago during the competition and suffered a pelvic fracture.

Evenepoel’s Deceuninck-Quick Step racing team rejected any suspicion on Saturday: “As already publicly stated, the item that was taken out of Remco’s bag was a bottle of nutritional supplements.” The bags had been emptied so that Evenepoel could lie more comfortably on the stretcher. The team also reported this to the CADF.
