Dutchman Max Verstappen has secured pole position for the Formula 1 season finale in Abu Dhabi. The Red Bull driver won in the exciting time pursuit on Saturday with just 0.025 seconds ahead of vice world champion Valtteri Bottas in the Mercedes. Third place went to world champion Lewis Hamilton in the second Silver Arrow. After his forced Corona break, the Briton was just 0.086 seconds behind Verstappen, who secured first place on the grid for the first time this season. This means that for the first time since 2013, there is no Mercedes in the foreground in Abu Dhabi.
Sebastian Vettel did not get past 13th place in his last race weekend for Ferrari and will face a difficult task in the race on Sunday (2.10 p.m. / RTL and Sky).
After Hamilton had been world champion for a month, the 17th race of the season is still about who comes second. Bottas has the best chances with 205 points, but Verstappen (189) can also climb to second place.
