Michael Zorc, sports director at Borussia Dortmund, is not concerned about Erling Haaland’s rehabilitation. This takes place in a surprising place – in Qatar. “His wish was to go through rehab there. He is surrounded by experts who can take care of him around the clock,” said Zorc on Thursday, making it clear once again, “We have agreed on this.”
The currently injured BVB striker caused surprise on Wednesday when he announced via Instagram that he is currently completing his rehabilitation in Qatar. The photo has now disappeared from his account. The 20-year-old Norwegian has been missing since the beginning of the month due to a torn muscle and will return to Dortmund for Christmas. The Bundesliga club is not afraid of a possible corona infection in Haaland. “We assume that he will adhere to the applicable hygiene rules there,” says Zorc.
Favre is still looking for a replacement for Haaland
In the new year, the striker must be back on the field for Dortmund. After the short Christmas break, BVB will face VfL Wolfsburg on January 3.
But first coach Lucien Favre has to find an alternative against Stuttgart. The Swiss left open who should replace Haaland in the storm center. Most recently, Marco Reus, Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard tried the role with moderate success. “The three players are not real attackers, you know that,” said Favre. That is why the first start of the 16-year-old Youssoufa Moukoko is not ruled out. “We will see who plays up front against Stuttgart,” said Favre.
