China has threatened the Czech Republic over a top official’s visit to Taiwan. China’s top diplomat Wang Yi said in a statement, Czech Republic Senate President Milos Vistril would have to pay a “high price” for visiting Taiwan in violation of the “One China” policy.
Milos Vistriel arrived in Taiwan on a five-day visit. He is scheduled to address Taiwan’s parliament and meet with President Xi Jinping.
Milos Wisteril set foot in Taipei on a state visit on Sunday. He was accompanied by a team of 90 delegates. The delegation also included the Mayor of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Officials in the Czech Republic claim that the visit is aimed at increasing trade relations with Taiwan. However, China does not like his visit at all.
China never recognizes Taiwan’s sovereignty. Instead, Beijing is trying to contain Taiwan within itself. They are trying to keep Taiwan completely separate from the world.
China says surprise visit to Taiwan by Czech authorities was provocative. However, this is not the first time a diplomat from a country has visited Taiwan. US Health Secretary Alex Azar went there a few days ago.
