Wolfsburg (AP) – After the dissonances of recent days, Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner has announced a conversation with sports director Jörg Schmadtke during the international break that starts on Monday.
“We will now use the international break to sit down and discuss the matter,” the Austrian said at the press conference about VfL’s 2-1 victory against 1899 Hoffenheim. He is not considering resigning. He also does not expect the club to split up: “I can promise that we will continue to do everything together for the success of VfL.”
Glasner recently complained about the failure of a new commitment to the offensive. Schmadtke then criticized the timing of these statements, saying, among other things, to the Internet portal “Sportbuzzer”: “You can’t want things that are unrealistic.”
Before the game against Hoffenheim, Glasner classified his statements in a Sky interview. “I didn’t take it as criticism at all. It shouldn’t be understood that way,” said the 46-year-old. “I said we. I didn’t even say I had these ideas and the sports management had other ideas. We had the same ideas that we couldn’t implement in one function.”
