Stuttgart (dpa) – After goalkeeper Johannes Bitter, another national handball player tested positive for Corona. The player is currently in domestic isolation, the German Handball Federation (DHB) has not mentioned a name in its message.
He has already undergone a second test, the results of which are expected on Wednesday. Regardless of this second test result, the Handball Bundesliga (HBL) reacted and as a precaution canceled the game originally scheduled for Wednesday night between SG Flensburg-Handewitt and MT Melsungen. It must be made up at a later date. Both clubs had qualified players for the German national team.
The corona cases in the national team could also affect the rest of the Bundesliga game plan. The four remaining Wednesday games should take place according to the HBL. However, whether the games scheduled for Thursday can all be played as planned, according to HBL, depends on the test results of the other German national players, which are not yet available.
The DHB selection played in the European Championship qualification in Estonia on Sunday afternoon. Then first the positive test result of Bitter became known. Now there is another positive corona case after returning from Tallinn.
