Dortmund (AP) – Jürgen Klopp returns to Dortmund for a Champions League match with Liverpool FC.

The English Premier League match on December 9 against Danish representative FC Midtjylland will be moved to Klopp’s former workplace. “It is true that Dortmund was chosen as the venue for December 9th. The match should be played without public participation,” a spokesman for the city of Dortmund confirmed to the German news agency. Firstly, the WDR has reported on this.

The background to the move is an arrangement according to which Danes traveling to Great Britain must initially be quarantined for 14 days. Provided that the approved hygiene concept was followed in Dortmund, the city agreed to the wishes of the European football association UEFA and Liverpool.

“Against this background, the city of Dortmund currently sees no obstacles that this match can be played in Dortmund,” he said. According to WDR, Klopp’s wish was to move to Dortmund. Between 2008 and 2015 he was a coach at BVB.
