Munich (DPA) – Champions League winners FC Bayern Munich will compete in the Club World Cup in Qatar in February 2021, according to a media report.

The world football association FIFA wants to host the tournament originally scheduled for December probably two months later, the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” reported Friday night without citing sources. The German record champion FC Bayern will compete as Champions League winners.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino had already said after the World Federation’s Congress in September that the competition was unlikely to take place in December as planned. The corona pandemic confused the original program in international football. But there are already considerations with the host country Qatar to organize the mini-tournament with seven clubs early next year, Infantino said at the time.
