Hamburg (AP) – Michael Kohlmann is the new male boss at the German tennis association.
The 46-year-old ex-pro succeeds Boris Becker, who resigned after three and a half years at the end of November due to lack of time for the task. Kohlmann has been the captain of the Davis Cup since early 2015 and is now also the sole sports director for the men’s section.
“Michael Kohlmann has done an excellent job for the DTB over the years and is the logical successor to the position of Head of Men’s Tennis,” said Dirk Hordorff, DTB Vice President Elite Sport on Thursday. “As a former professional player, he has great expertise, has very good access to the next generation and can develop young players.”
Kohlmann is looking forward to the new challenge and “to take on further responsibilities at the DTB. The cooperation with Boris in recent years has always been very close and good. We have tackled a lot together and I was always fully involved, so I was all right I am familiar with the tasks ahead. “
