Berlin (dpa) – Despite the three-year break, Christoph Daum does not see his coaching career as over.
“I’m not finished yet. My advantage is: I have worked out the comfortable situation that I can say: I don’t need that anymore,” said the 66-year-old former national coach of the G14plus editorial team. Daum had taken care of the Romanian national football team until 2017, before that he was coach at 1. FC Köln and Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
According to his own statement, he could have envisioned a commitment to Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04, which split from coach David Wagner at the end of September. “I am a child of the Ruhr area, I love people,” he said. “But above all, I know what is missing from Schalke: they have broken away from their DNA because they try to play and be something that they are not and that does not suit Schalke,” said Daum.
