The EM qualifying match of the U21 football team in Moldova is threatened with cancellation due to a corona case in the German team. The German Football Association (DFB) confirms this on Thursday afternoon. In consultation with the health department and the European Football Association (Uefa), it is therefore decided whether the German team can travel to Moldova on Thursday and play for the third of the last qualifying match on Friday (6.15 pm / ProSieben MAXX).
A player who tested positive
After consultation with the responsible authorities, the player who tested positive on Wednesday and his contacts have already been isolated from the rest of the team in their rooms at the team hotel Herzogspark in Herzogenaurach. All other team members tested negative for Covid-19 on Wednesday and another smear was taken on Thursday morning.
“The player is doing well so far” said coach Stefan Kuntz: “His two previous tests from the last four days were negative, so the result came as a surprise to all of us. I said a few days ago that I was nowhere safer feel as with the DFB measures. Despite all the precautions, however, no one hundred percent safety can be guaranteed. “
