Bremen (dpa) – Werder Bremen is also taking the offensive against Borussia Dortmund with great personal concerns.
As with the last 2-0 draw against RB Leipzig, Milot Rashica, Niclas Füllkrug and Davie Selke are unavailable on Tuesday (8.30pm / Sky) due to injuries.
Above all, the situation at Selke gives the residents of Bremen guesswork. “He is symptom-free again. But there are findings that indicate an injury,” said Werder coach Florian Kohfeldt the day before the game. The striker therefore receives a second opinion from another doctor, then it must be decided whether Selke is still available this year.
The football year is over for Rashica and most likely for Füllkrug. “I don’t want to rule out the match in Hanover with Niclas, I think the match against Union Berlin is realistic,” said Kohfeldt. Werder will play the second round of the DFB Cup in the second division Hannover 96 on December 23rd. On January 2, 2021, Union Berlin will be a guest appearance in the Weserstadion to ring in the new year.
Kohfeldt expects a difficult task against Dortmund, partly due to the change of coach. “That’s something that has changed game preparation a lot,” said Kohfeldt. “There’s no way to see how he worked with teams as a head coach,” said Kohfeldt of Edin Terzic, who has succeeded Lucien Favre at BVB. “It is no longer a routine game for Dortmund,” Kohfeldt said, referring to the change of coach.
