Paris (AP) – Serbian number one in the world Novak Djokovic will not participate in the Masters 1000 tennis tournament in Paris-Bercy in early November.

The 33-year-old confirmed this to the Serbian newspaper “Sportski Zurnal” and justified his rejection on the grounds that he could not score points for the world ranking. Djokovic had won the Paris indoor tournament in 2019. Due to the coronavirus pandemic this year the rule applies that the better result at a tournament from both years counts for the world ranking.

Spanish French Open winner Rafael Nadal confirmed his participation in the Paris tournament on Tuesday. Djokovic wants to participate in Vienna next week and then at the ATP Finals in London in mid-November.
