RB Leipzig has again brought a player from Salzburg. This time the young attacking player Dominik Szoboszlai. He is eligible to play from January and should help RB in the battle for the championship.
The transfer of exceptional Hungarian talent Dominik Szoboszlai to Bundesliga football club RB Leipzig is perfect. The 20-year-old attacking player signed a contract on Thursday after a successful medical examination until the end of June 2025 and can play from January. About 20 million euros will go to Red Bull Salzburg as a transfer fee, making Szoboszlai the most expensive football player in Hungary.
“Dominik has extraordinary potential and can play any position in midfield,” said sports director Markus Krösche: “Thanks to his bipedal nature and his strength in long range shots and in standard situations, he has many skills that will also enrich our game. “
RB has already brought 20 players from Salzburg
Szoboszlai is already the 20th player to move from Salzburg to Leipzig since 2012. This includes Marcel Sabitzer and Massimo Bruno, signed by RB and initially on loan to Salzburg. Officially, the two Red Bull-backed clubs had to give up their band as much as possible due to UEFA regulations.
Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff explained: “With the transfer plus in the summer and reaching the round of 16 in the Champions League we have generated additional income to be able to make a transfer of this magnitude even in these financially difficult times.” These must be reinvested “directly” into the team.
