Dortmund (dpa) – Borussia Dortmund director Hans-Joachim Watzke still believes in EM opportunities for football professionals Mats Hummels and Thomas Müller, who were started by national team coach Joachim Löw.
“If Mats, like Thomas Müller, maintains his excellent level, then the national coach will not get past both of them. Joachim Löw is success-oriented. I’m sure of that,” said Watzke in a double interview with “Sport Bild” with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “Both play at a very high level. What distinguishes them, in addition to their sporting quality, is their personality,” said the CEO of FC Bayern.
Hummels, Müller and Jerome Boateng had been informed by Löw in March 2019 that he no longer intended with them. The three world champions of 2014 have not played for the national team since then.
