Mönchengladbach (dpa) – Marcus Thuram mourns his spitting attack against TSG Hoffenheim and is ready to face the consequences.
“I apologize to everyone, to Stefan Posch, to my opponents, to my teammates, to my family and to anyone who has seen my reaction,” the Borussia Mönchengladbach attacker wrote on Instagram.
The 23-year-old France international spat in the face of his opponent Posch in the 1: 2 (1: 0) against Hoffenheim and saw the red card when the score was 1: 1. Coach Marco Rose had already apologized after the game “on behalf of the club”. Rose and some of Thuram’s teammates had also cited the eviction as the reason for the season’s first home loss.
“Something happened today that doesn’t match my character and should never have happened,” the son of former world champion Lilian Thuram wrote himself. “Of course I will accept all consequences for my gestures.”
