Arturo Vidal is apparently about to say goodbye to FC Barcelona. According to reports, the former FC Bayern player wants to move to another European top club.
Arturo Vidal won the Spanish championship with FC Barcelona in 2019, but internationally the Catalans have lagged behind expectations in recent years. Most recently, the Chilean played no part in the team around superstar Lionel Messi. Now Vidal will apparently leave Barça. As the “Gazzetta dello Sport” reports, the 33-year-old is about to switch to Italian runner-up Inter Milan after 96 appearances and eleven goals for the Spanish top club.
Barcelona would save a lot of salary
Inter-coach Antonio Conte is a fan of the midfielder and has wanted to bring him to the “Nerazzurri” in the past. Now it should work. The plan is that Vidal’s contract in Barcelona, which runs until 2021, will be prematurely terminated and then moved to Inter for free. The financially troubled Catalans can save Vidal’s seemingly generous salary – reportedly nine million euros.
Vidal moved from FC Bayern to Barcelona in 2018 for 18 million euros, in three years in Munich (124 competitive games, 22 goals) he had previously celebrated three championships and a DFB Cup victory.
