Former Brazilian international Robinho has been sentenced to a long prison sentence in Italy. The ex-AC Milan pro allegedly raped a woman in 2013.
The Italian judiciary is holding a nine-year sentence for former Brazilian football star Robinho. A court on Thursday upheld the verdict against the 100-time international who was allegedly involved in a gang rape in Milan in 2013. At the time, the now 36-year-old was under contract with AC Milan. He continues to protest his innocence and can appeal again within 90 days.
Robinho was sentenced in absentia in 2017. According to new information in the case, such as telephone recordings, his contract with his home club Santos FC was suspended under public pressure in October. Last season, the attacker played for the Istanbul club Basaksehir and became champion.
