Augsburg (dpa) – FC Augsburg wants a nationwide solution in the debate over fans returning to Bundesliga stadiums.
“A solution for the whole of Germany would certainly be better and also our wish because it would be the fairest solution. But we live under federalism, where federal states can decide otherwise”, said CFO Michael Ströll (36) of the Augsburger Allgemeine in an interview. “However, it is not good for the FCA if we have to play away for the opponents, but at home we cannot let our supporters into the stadium.”
The Bundesliga football team from Fuggerstadt is calculating a loss of income of about 20 million euros before the end of the year if more visitors come to their own stadium. “It’s not that easy to put away for a small club like FCA. That’s why we try to optimize as much as possible on the spending side”, Ströll explains. To cover the costs of the domestic WWK Arena, the club will need “about 5000 spectators”, according to its presentation.
