Enormous fire in the northeast of Mallorca: a wildfire has been raging in a nature reserve for days. The flames also destroyed homes. Was it arson?
A conflagration devastated parts of a nature reserve on the holiday island of Mallorca. The fire broke out on Friday evening in S’Albufera in the northeast of the island. Strong winds caused the fire to spread quickly.
According to the Ministry of Environment, the fire is now under control. However, about 438 hectares of the wetland was affected by the fire. According to local media, three houses have been destroyed and two more damaged.
Exactly how the fire broke out has not yet been definitively clarified. However, the authorities are currently assuming arson.
