Flensburg (AP) – Norwegian handball player Magnus Jøndal leaves SG Flensburg-Handewitt after the season and ends his career. His club announced this.
The 32-year-old left winger wants to return to his homeland with his family. Jøndal has been playing in Flensburg since 2018 and won the German championship in 2019.
Coach Maik Machulla regretted Jøndal’s decision. “We gave him our opinion very early on and would have liked to keep him in our ranks as he is an absolute top player in his position,” he said on the website.
Jøndal was also internationally successful. With the Norwegian selection, he came second in 2017 and 2019. It is also intended for the Norwegian team for the World Cup in Egypt in January and the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
