Spielberg (dpa) – The last practice before the Formula 1 race in Austria was canceled after constant rain. This was announced by the organizers in Styria.
Instead of going to the last training session for the starting yacht (3 p.m.) from 12 p.m., Sebastian Vettel & Co. to wait.
The heavy rains on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg had previously caused the Formula 3 race in the motorsport premier class support program to finish after just 12 laps. Conditions had become too dangerous for the drivers.
If a qualifying for Formula 1 was also not possible, the times of the last practice would be used for the starting grid. Race director Michael Masi had pointed this out. Vettel only finished 16th in Friday’s second free practice.
