Frankfurt made itself a frontrunner from one day to the next. At Hertha BSC, Eintracht won relatively clearly thanks to efficient use of opportunities. At Hertha there was a specific problem.

Eintracht Frankfurt stormed to the top of the Bundesliga table for one night with a strong performance and the first win of the season. Coach Adi Hütter’s highly disciplined team rightly won 3-1 (2-0) at Hertha BSC.
Andre Silva (30./foul penalty), Bas Dost (36.) and Sebastian Rode (71.) scored for the guests, Martin Hinteregger’s own goal (77.) gave Hertha hope again.
“We won the duels and played very well forward,” said Rode satisfied at DAZN. “A compliment to the whole team. How everyone worked together to make the win possible. My goal only felt like 20 km / h, but that doesn’t matter,” said the midfielder of his artfully drawn shot in the lower left corner.
Frankfurt stretches far into its own half
The Berliners remain a lucky bag. After a defeat in the DFB Cup at second division team Eintracht Braunschweig (1: 4) and the strong competition opener at Werder Bremen (4: 1), a setback followed. For the first time in 202 days, Hertha played a home game for spectators, 4,000 people created a great atmosphere in the Olympic Stadium.
Hertha started with the same starting eleven versus the win in Bremen, but struggled to build up. Frankfurt decided against an early pressing, withdrew completely to his own half when the opponent had possession and narrowed the spaces. De Eintracht made the guests nervous. Hertha’s dreaded offensive could not be revived.
Penalty for Boyata foul
Bad luck for Eintracht was that Filip Kostic had to leave after 15 minutes injured after a collision with Jordan Torunarigha, he was replaced by Steven Zuber. Frankfurt, however, remained highly concentrated defensively, creating opportunities especially on the right, as Almamy Touré Hertha’s Maxi Mittelstädt rushed several times.
The management of the guests was not undeserved. Silva fell to the ground after a duel with Hertha’s new captain Dedryck Boyata, referee Bastian Dankert (Rostock) decided – somewhat happy for Eintracht – on a penalty. Silva advanced to make it 1-0.
Maier is injured from the field
Shortly afterwards, the guests struck again, again after an attack from the right. After a free kick by Daichi Kamada, Dost threw the ball into the goal without hindrance. Boyata allowed too passive.
Hertha’s coach Bruno Labbadia reacted with three changes in the second half, with the hapless Krzysztof Piatek leaving the field for the new addition of Jhon Cordoba. The pressure increased, but the Eintracht players never lost a ball. For a long time, Hertha’s Matheus Cunha did not behave as conspicuously as usual, who should have been in a good mood. Before the match, it was announced that the 21-year-old was first called up to the Brazilian national team.
More and more a game on a goal developed, Frankfurt hardly came to help with attacks. Hertha’s young star Arne Maier limped away in the 66th minute after only being substituted in the second half. Shortly afterwards, the strong Red made everything clear with a compliment.
