Wiesbaden (dpa) – National player Melanie Leupolz has not yet met her male club colleagues Timo Werner and Kai Havertz despite her commitment to Chelsea.
The 26-year-old told this during a media round of the German Football Association (DFB). “We can only stay in our bladder. You can see the men in the morning, but I haven’t exchanged a word with anyone,” said Leupolz. In the recent past there have also been multiple cases of corona on the men’s team at Chelsea, which is why she avoided this even more, she added with a smile.
The German national team will meet England next Tuesday (5 p.m. / ARD), which will host the European Championship in 2022. Leupolz switched to the blues this summer after six years at Bayern Munich. Until now, she has been enthusiastic about the London trials. “I expected a professional club, but that again exceeded my expectations. Every training session is filmed, statistics are made. The training control is very professional,” said the midfielder.
