Moscow (AP) – German football coach Domenico Tedesco was insulted during a match by Spartak Moscow in the Russian Premjer League.
According to reports from various Russian sports media, FK Sochi goalkeeper coach Dmitri Borodin told the 35-year-old German-Italian: “This is our country.” Tedesco was shocked. “I am very disappointed. This is the first time that something like this has happened to me. I am shocked,” said Schalke’s former coach to a sports channel. He always tried to respect Russian football, traditions and language.
Borodon confirmed his statements to the portal sport24. Tedesco then called him a racist. The 35-year-old took over Spartak Moscow in the relegation battle more than a year ago and led the team to seventh place. Political tensions exist, particularly between Germany and Russia – most recently after the poisoning of Kremlin critic Alexej Navalny.
