Madrid (AP) – Borussia Mönchengladbach’s coach Marco Rose relies on Nico Elvedi in the starting line-up in the decisive Champions League group match against Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old central defender from Switzerland came out with a muscle injury in the past ten days. Rose had taken Elvedi to Madrid in view of Borussia’s personnel problems at the defense, but left his assignment open today. In the starting eleven for the last group match, there are no further surprises for Borussia. In Marcus Thuram, Alassane Plea, Lars Stindl and Breel Embolo, Rose offers his entire offensive warfare.
Jonas Hofmann and Tony Jantschke are still injured, Ramy Bensebaini is still out after his Corona quarantine. The Gladbachers have to grab at least one point at Real to survive the group stage of the Champions League for the first time on their own. Madrid must win to reach the round of 16 safely.
As announced, captain Sergio Ramos will return to Real after his injury three weeks ago. Toni Kroos is also in the starting eleven of the Champions League record winner.
