After Green leader Robert Habeck stated that he could imagine becoming chancellor, his colleague is now following suit. Annalena Baerbock also sees herself as suitable for the office.
Green leader Annalena Baerbock dares to lead the chancellery in her own words. In view of the federal election in the fall of next year, she said “Bild am Sonntag”: “Yes, I trust that I am Chancellor”. She added that she also trusts her co-boss Robert Habeck. They will “decide together what is best for the country and our party”.
Habeck was also interested in the candidacy
The Greens do not want to clarify their top candidate until next year. Habeck had also recently stated that he would entrust himself to the chancellery. In the summer, the SPD, Olaf Scholz, was the first Bundestag to send a candidate for chancellor into the race.
Baerbock told the “BamS”: “For everyone currently in talks, the following applies: no one fell out of the blue as chancellor. Everyone should learn new things in office. For example, I did not have a government office myself.” But she brings her “international experience and European roots” with her. “Three years as a party leader, MP and mother of small children is pretty tough,” said Baerbock.
