Hamburg (dpa) – The handball players of SG Flensburg-Handewitt have at least temporarily placed themselves at the top of the Bundesliga table.
The 2018 and 2019 German champions won their away game against Bergischer HC with 30:25 (17:10) and now have 10: 2 points. Hampus Wanne threw seven goals for the North Germans, but they can still be made up on Sunday by THW Kiel and the Rhein-Neckar Löwen. Arnor Gunnarsson and Jeffrey Boomhouwer were each successful five times for the hosts.
Flensburg had some problems early in the game with BHC goalkeeper Christopher Rudeck, who was trained at SG. After a short period of command, the North Germans took over command. Lasse Svan scored the first lead at 6: 5 (13th), which was expanded to seven goals by half time.
After switching sides, the SG lost its thread a bit. The hosts regained their confidence and managed to narrow the gap to three goals (22: 25/50.). Flensburg’s fifth win of the season was no longer in grave danger.
HC Erlangen previously celebrated the second victory of the season. In the newly promoted TuSEM Essen, the Franks won with 26:20 (14:11). Even the eleven hits from left winger Noah Beyer could not prevent Essen’s fourth bankruptcy.
