Mario Götze is currently without a club. After leaving Borussia Dortmund, the ex-world champion has not yet signed a new contract. But an old friend probably has it on the slip.

With Thiago, Ivan Perisic, Philippe Coutinho and Alvaro Odriozola, four field players have already left Bayern. However, with Tanguy Nianzou, Leroy Sané and Adrian Fein, only three new ones came. The latter needs some time to get up to the level of the rest of the team – Fein recently played for HSV and Jahn Regensburg in the second division.
Götze and Flick know each other
Coach Hansi Flick wants some more newcomers. Recently there were three players, mostly talented, who are satisfied with a role on the bench. But as the “Sport Bild” reports, Flick has been keeping an eye on a person who doesn’t meet the criteria of young talent: Mario Götze (28).
The 2014 world champion is currently without a club and played for Borussia Dortmund until the summer. According to the report, Flick called Götze last week. The two know each other from normal times at the DFB, when Flick was assistant to national coach Joachim Löw. According to the report, Götze could imagine a change and would even miss a lot of salary. A one-year contract is conceivable.
Where the Bayern coach can imagine Götze with his versatility and attacking qualities, the executive suite is apparently more against a transfer. Therefore, the pressure to have Götze back in Munich is too great for them. A return to the Isar would have a tremendous response from fans and the media. Expectations would be immensely high. To sign a fairly unknown and young player it would be easier from the point of view.
