Mario Götze was on the Hertha BSC list. Sports director Arne Friedrich confirmed this during the break of the Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt. The official also spoke of further transfers.
Hertha sports director Arne Friedrich has confirmed the capital’s interest in ex-player Mario Götze. “This is of course a name that we were concerned about,” Friedrich said on Friday evening during the break in the Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt at DAZN. “But, as I said, there are a lot of names that we have to deal with. At this point I cannot and will not say anything about them.” As far as possible new acquisitions are concerned, one must be “surprised”.
Recently, Götze had said to “Bild”: “Most of the rumors were untrue. I also don’t want to comment on confidential discussions. But what I can say: I have exchanged views with a number of coaches and clubs in recent weeks.” It has even been speculated that the 2014 world champions would return to Bayern Munich. AS Monaco, coach Niko Kovac’s club, would also be interested. The 28-year-old Götze is currently without a contract after his period at Borussia Dortmund.
