Hamburg (AP) – Hamburger SV has no chance with its application for the admission of 5000 spectators in the opening match of the 2nd Bundesliga on September 18 against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Domestic Senator Andy Grote gave an explanation.
“It is not a good idea if everyone announces a decision for themselves and 18 different rules apply for a Bundesliga weekend in 18 stadiums. That is not the nomination of the prime minister’s conference either,” the SPD politician told “Hamburger Abendblatt” and added: “We feel bound to them. When you decide something, you have to stick to it.”
Due to different infection levels in the different regions of Germany and different corona requirements in the federal states, there is currently no uniform regulation. Only 1000 people are currently allowed in the football stadium in Hamburg. For the nine-day men’s tennis tournament in the Hanseatic city, however, 2300 spectators are allowed to enter the much smaller tennis stadium every day.
