Gelsenkirchen (AP) – The crisis match between FC Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga must take place in the evening (6.30 p.m. / Sky) without a spectator.
As the Schalke team announced, they have received the relevant message from the local authorities after the 7-day incidence in Gelsenkirchen was back above 35 at the crucial time on Saturday at midnight. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) it was 39.5.
As it dipped below 35 for the first time during the week and at 33.4 on Friday, Schalke had hoped to get some 11,000 spectators cleared and sold the corresponding number of tickets. The fans involved will now get their money back.
It will be the third match on match day 2 in which the license for a certain number of spectators is withdrawn a few hours before kick-off. Last week the matches FC Bayern Munich against Schalke (8: 0) and 1. FC Cologne against 1899 Hoffenheim (2: 3) were hit.
