2nd Bundesliga

1. FC Nürnberg missed the lead in league two. The club lost to Darmstadt 98 in the last second and has to settle for eleventh place.

Thanks to a header goal in the third minute of injury time, SV Darmstadt 98 won a quick game against 1. FC Nürnberg on Monday. Nicolai Rapp took the 3-2 (0-1) away for Hesse with his late goal. Robin Hack (3rd minute) and Felix Lohkemper (61st) had put the “Club” ahead twice in front of 6772 spectators. The mostly key players of Darmstadt were kept in the game by the goals of Serdar Dursun (55th) and Marvin Mehlem (76th) before Rapp managed to achieve the happy ending. The Hessians with their new coach Markus Anfang now overtook the team from Nuremberg with four points on the table.

Hack puts Nuremberg on top

In front of 6,772 spectators in the Max Morlock Stadium, the hosts had a tailor-made start: Lohkemper entered the penalty area from the right, where the attacking Hack took the lead with a remarkable header from almost ten meters.

The team from Darmstadt, which at the start of the season had unnecessarily lost points at 2: 3 in Sandhausen and 0: 0 against Jahn Regensburg, then quickly took control of the game and had a number of opportunities. But both ex-Nuremberg Tobias Kempe with a fast movement (22nd) and Serdar Dursun with his head (31st) failed because of the strong parrying “Club” keeper Christian Mathenia. Before the break, the goalkeeper was lucky when the ball bounced off the post after a volley shot by Dursun, but did not roll into the goal (43.).

The home team, which had to do without the injured attackers Manuel Schäffler and Pascal Köpke, often tried counterattacks. But after that they repeatedly made inaccurate passports and qualifications.

Darmstadt increased the pressure on the increasingly nervous “Club” defense, Dursun’s header was the logical consequence. The guests wanted to maintain and improve the momentum, but were taken by surprise, as at the start of the game, when Lohkemper took the lead again after a single action and a nice tap.

The match got faster and faster and the “lilies” were level again as Mehlem was able to dribble briefly into the penalty area and then finish. In the final phase, both teams pushed to victory in vain.
